Catherine Anne O'Hara OC (born on March 4, 1954)is a Canadian-American actress comedian, writer, and actress. O'Hara has been awarded a range of awards, including the Genie Award, a Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. She also won two Primetime Emmy Awards and six Canadian Screen Awards. In 2018, she was made an Officer of Canada. Then, in 2020, she received the Governor General's Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement award. O'Hara began her career as an actress in 1974 as in The Second City, an improv comedy group in Toronto. Together with John Candy, O'Hara was part of the main cast for the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). O'Hara, Candy, and Dan Aykroyd began work in Second City Television's sketch comedy series (1976-1984). O'Hara received praise for her comic acting and writing skills which earned her an Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writer for an episode of a Variety Series in 1982. O'Hara was named to the Second City artistic advisory panel in 2022 by Stephen Colbert.
