Kyra Minturn
Kyra Minturn, born August 19, 1965, is an American actress. She is also a producer and director. She is most famous for her leading role as deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson on the TNT crime drama The Closer. In her role as Johnson, Sedgwick won a Golden Globe Award in 2007 and an Emmy Award in 2010. After the conclusion of the seventh season the series was cancelled on August 13, 2012. Sedgwick is also well-known for her recurring role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Madeline Wuntch. Sedgwick was nominated for an Golden Globe award in 1995 for her performance in Something to Talk About. Sedgwick's other roles in films include Oliver Stone's Born of the Fourth of July (1989), Cameron Crowe's The Ones (1992) as well as Heart and Souls-1993), Phenomenon (1996) and What's Cooking (2000) and Secondhand Lions (2003). The Game Plan (2007) and The Possession (2013). Sedgwick was born in New York City, the daughter of Patricia (nee Rosenwald), a speech teacher and educational/family therapist and Henry Dwight Sedgwick V, a venture capitalist. Her mother was Jewish and her father was Episcopalian as well as of English descent. Sedgwick has stated that she is Jewish and has stated that she participates in Passover seders.
